Why Does My Business Need a Logo?
Imprinting your business logo on your website, business cards, or products communicates ownership. It can show the world & your possible customers who you are, what kind of services or products you sell, and the benefit you give customers.
A logo is much more than just a concept; it is a feature that imprints a recognition & perception for clients and a primary framework for your company’s branding. A well-thought-out & designed logo is a simple approach to show your potential customers that your business is trustworthy, reliable, professional, and gives quality goods or services.
A professional logo will tell clients you’re great at what you do. A mediocre, dull, or poorly completed logo says you lack ability and experience. All businesses must stress their specialty or unique quality that separates them from different companies.
What are the qualities I should have in a logo?
You should first identify five qualities that will make your logo immediately identifiable. Having five qualities assures that when customers glance at it, they’ll relate with your brand. These are the five:
- Simple: easy to recognize & identify.
- Relevant: Colors, fonts. See it as a symbol.
- Memorable: Create an instant connection & interest, making your brand recognizable.
- Timeless: Relevant yet effective. Think McDonald’s and the golden arches.
- Versatile: make sure your business logo available to use in a variety of ways. Picking a logo that can be resized, reprinted, or put on various media makes your business brand noticeable.
What do the different types of logos?
By now, we know a logo is a branding and symbol of your business, but what type of logo should you choose?
- Monogram logos (Letter marks)
A monogram logo will have letters with about 2-3 words for easy recall. A good example, if I were to say astronaut, you would automatically think? Nasa.
- Wordmarks (Logotypes)
A bit like a letter mark, a wordmark or logotype is a font-based logo that centers on the business’s name. Consider Coca-Cola or Netflix. Wordmark logotypes work well when a company has a short and clear title.
- Pictorial marks (or logo symbols)
A pictorial mark (sometimes termed brand mark or logo symbol) is an icon—or graphics-based logo. It’s the picture that appears in your mind when you think of Apple. Another great example is the bird that Twitter uses.
- Mascots logos
The ambassador of your company. The Cheetos cheetah, to Tony the Tiger of the Frosted Flakes brand.
- The combination mark
It is a logo combo consisting of a wordmark, letter mark, symbol, or mascot. A combination mark is a smart choice with both the text and icon/symbol, strengthening your brand’s image.
- The emblem logo
Comparable to combination mark logos, emblem logos merge images with text. What the difference? Emblem logos express the features using a frame or border.
